Tips for planning an elegant wedding on a small budget

Are you trying to plan the wedding of your dreams based on a real-life budget? You're not alone! Research indicates that the average wedding in America costs just over $20,000. Now, you can get married for under $50 (just the cost of the marriage license), but having a WEDDING cost money!

So, the question is, "How do you get the most for your money?" The answer is to be creative, think outside of the traditional wedding box, and do not be afraid to ask for help!

The most expensive part of a wedding is often the food. So, plan your affordable wedding at a non-meal time, like 10:00 AM or 2:00 PM. This way you can serve light or heavy hor d’oeuvres (these are finger foods and are often accompanied by cocktails - but not for a budget-minded bride!). Speaking of cocktails, this is another area that can get expensive very fast! If you cannot avoid serving alcohol, consider doing just a champagne toast, or wine spritzers. Anything that uses less alcohol will cost less.

Until next time ... happy planning!
